The spirits are high and the music is hot! all performers at the 2010
Montreal international Jazz Festival. Yes, it's jazz - but it's diverse.
It's music; blues, latin jazz or world groove, the Festival de jazz de
Montreal has it. On the bluesier side, the blues stage is always packed and
always great! Blues performers this year include taj Mahal with the Fabulous
Thunderbirds; what a party that will be!The Montreal Jazz Festival swings
from blues, to a touch of folk with Harry Manx to the legendary music of
George Benson.
Other jazz performers include Molly Johnson, Marcus Miller, Susie Arioli and Jordan Officer, Jesse Cook, Charlie Hunter, Nikki Yanofsky, Nils Petter Molvaer, Ranee Lee...the list continues. Now where else would you get greats such as that along with amazing jazz orchestra's like the Artie Shaw Orchestra and the Harry James Orchestra - all in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The music is always hot and cool at the same time - you can walk from stage to stage - there are 7 free stages in all. You can walk along, sipping your beer and taking in the performances that each stage offers. It's almost too much, but what a great time trying to take it all in. As well as free stages, there are ticketed performances all well worth the investment. Every year the festival has specialty shows and this year they are focussing on guitar players with Guitarissimo. Returning to the Montreal Jazz Festival stage will be Matt Anderson; he was a hit last year and sure to bring a bigger crowd this year. The guitar tent was full of music, with workshops being held and lovers of jazz and blues music taking it all in.. Aways, always, the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal presents the best. Are you considering attending? More information is available www.montrealjazzfest.com and tickets are available online at the same website. See you in Montreal! |
